International Women’s Day
8th March, 2022
Palestine Solidarity Campaign branches have organised a special International Women’s Day online event, featuring fantastic Palestinian speakers and solidarity campaigners. There will be a Q&A session, and other speakers may be added nearer the date. The event is being shared widely on social media and creating a buzz around the topic that has been enhanced by the Amnesty Report dubbing the Israeli regime as an apartheid state, something that campaigners have long been pointing out. To increase public recognition of a reality that has been obvious to many for decades, B-tselem, a respected Israeli human rights organisation agrees with Amnesty and so does Human Rights Watch who have both produced their own reports.
The speaker lineup is:
Dr Nada Elia, Palestinian Feminist Collective, scholar-activist in American Cultural Studies at Western Washington University, writer, and grassroots organiser, currently completing a book on Palestinian Diaspora activism
Sorcha Thomson, PSC Youth and Student Committee
A speaker from the Sheffield Palestine Women’s Scholarship Fund, a project enabling women students to access further education in Gaza
Dr Jennifer Mogannam, Palestinian Feminist Collective, Postdoctoral Fellow, Departments of Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies, university of California, Davis http://www.jennifermorgannam.com
